God has blessed you with special talents whether it be teaching children, musical abilities, running the soundboard and much more. Our desire is for you to seek a place to serve at Open Door Baptist Church and get involved. Contributing to the lives of those around you will help you to grow in your walk with the Lord. Here is a list of several opportunities for you to get involved.
To record decisions made at the end of the service. Pray as needed with people at the altar.
To create items needed for various themes, banquets, Vacation Bible School, camp, etc.
Wednesday night program for children 3 years old thru 6th grade. Leaders are needed to teach, instruct, and lead games and activities.
Coordinator plans, get volunteers for set up and clean up, arrange for decorations, etc.
Cook prepares meals and snacks for campers and counselors. Usually full time in the kitchen. Counselors participate in activities with the campers, supervise and nurture campers, prepare games, devotions and most importantly, know how to lead a child to Christ.
We use volunteers throughout the week to clean restrooms, dust, vacuum the carpets, clean doors and windows weekly and for special spring and fall clean ups.
Help with mailings, bulletins, count change offerings, etc.
Help prepare food for banquets, funeral meals, and/or Martha Meal Ministry (for people who have been hospitalized or are recovering from lengthy illnesses) as encouragement to and from our congregation.
Welcome people at the door, smile, be friendly, hand out bulletin, answer questions and tell guest where necessities are such as the elevator, restrooms, nursery, etc.
Teachers choose the curriculum to teach children 2 ½ through kindergarten, prepares snacks, and crafts.
Coordinator screen books, advises office when library supplies are needed, check books in/out, put books back on the shelf, etc.
This is our Sunday Morning children’s ministry for children in grades 1-6.
Assist with carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and small repairs as needed throughout the year.
Mission housing is needed to provide visiting missionaries with a place to stay while visiting. We also need people to correspond with missionaries throughout the year, updating them on our ministry, encouraging them, sending birthday cards and other greetings as needed. We also need planners for our annual conference to plan activities, prepare decorations and provide other support as needed.
Our choir practices every Sunday afternoon and has extra rehearsals for special performances. We also schedule special instrumentals, solos, duets, and small groups.
The nursery coordinator schedules workers, makes sure laundry and other cleaning is managed. Toys are screened for broken or loose parts that could be dangerous to infants. Workers are scheduled 3-4 times a quarter, depending on need and ability to schedule time. Workers are needed to give the nursery a thorough scrubbing once every quarter.
Deacons assist the pastor with the spiritual growth of the church membership. Trustees assist the pastor with the financial decisions of the church. There are certain qualifications for both offices including but not limited to: membership in the church, regular tithing, attendance, support activities, visitation and others as needed. A Clerk is needed to record minutes of meetings from both quarterly and annual business meetings. Send letters to churches to inform them about transfers of membership and other duties as needed.
Coordinated by the trustees. Includes edging sidewalks, mowing, planting & weeding flower beds, snow removal, trimming around signs and trees.
Pray and pass on special requests whether it be for illnesses, problems or burdens that our members and their family or friends may face.
Technical responsibility of the music ministry and sound quality during the services.
Teach children within a three year age range. Teachers are also asked to make contact with the children during the week with encouragement in the form of cards and phone calls.
To collect the tithes and offerings during the church service.
This is a one week summer role. Coordinator chooses the curriculum, recruits volunteers for teaching, crafts, kitchen work, registration, etc. VBS is a great way to work with our children during the summer break.
Workers will drive children and adults to and from church. It requires both a heart for children, dedication, plus a valid driver’s license.
Church-wide visitation is on Thursday. Soul winning is better in pairs and is the key to a successful ministry.
Assist people in wheelchair with the ramps and elevator.
Women’s Bible Study meets September through April on Thursday mornings to discuss a Bible lesson assigned before the class. Preparation is the key to a meaningful discussion. Special assistance needed with decorations for special occasions like the Mother/Daughter Banquet, Ladies Christmas party, etc.
Youth meet on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for bible lesson, games and snacks. Activity highlights include summer camp and occasionally there are special outings to attend.
