Cleaning The Building

Volunteers are needed throughout the week to clean restrooms, dusting the woodwork in the sanctuary and other doors, ledges, etc. Vacuum the carpets, clean doors and windows weekly and for special spring and fall clean ups. Coordinator calls to let volunteers know their scheduled job and date for work. We also need someone to call if a volunteer is not available for their date and schedules someone else.

Clerical Work

Help with mailings, bulletins, count change offerings, etc.

College and Military Boxes

Twice a year, we plan for special boxes to go out to immediate members of our church family. We need shoppers, sorters and boxers, plus people to go to the post office.

Food Preparation

Help prepare food for banquets, funeral meals, and/or Martha Meal Ministry (for people who have been hospitalized or are recovering from lengthy illnesses) as encouragement to and from our congregation. This needs to be a full course dinner preferably a “home cooked” meal that includes a meat course, vegetable, salad and dessert.

Greeter

Welcome people at the door, smile, be friendly and hand out bulletins. Help answer questions, tell guest where things are like the elevator, the restrooms etc.

Please note that this role requires ties and jackets for the men, and skirts or dress slacks for the ladies.

Jr. Church

Coordinator is asked to choose the curriculum, schedules teachers, and helpers. Teachers teach children 2 ½ through kindergarten, prepares snacks, and crafts. Helpers are always needed to assist the teacher with the children.

Library

Coordinator screen books, schedules workers, makes sure library supplies are ordered. Helpers check books in/out, put books back on the shelf, etc.

Little Shepherds

Coordinator instructs and teaches on curriculum, looks for puppet skits, schedules workers. The teachers instruct lessons to grades 1-6 grade children, plans songs, snacks, and crafts. Helpers are always needed to assist the teachers with all planned activity.

Maintenance

Assist with carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and small repairs as needed throughout the year.

Missions

Mission housing is needed to provide visiting missionaries with a place to stay while visiting. We also need people to correspond with missionaries throughout the year, updating them on our ministry, encouraging them, sending birthday cards and other greetings as needed. We also need mission planners for our annual conference, plan activities, prepare decorations and provide other support as needed.

Musical

Our choir practices every Sunday afternoon and has extra rehearsals for special performances. We also schedule special instrumentals, solos, duets, and small groups. Please note that all music must be pre-approved in advance and proper attire is required.

Nursery

The nursery coordinator schedules workers, makes sure laundry and other cleaning is managed. Toys are screened for broken or loose parts that could be dangerous to infants. Workers are scheduled 3-4 times a quarter, depending on need and ability to schedule time. Workers are needed to give the nursery a thorough scrubbing once every quarter.

Officers

Deacons assist the pastor with the spiritual growth of the church membership. Trustees assist the pastor with the financial decisions of the church. There are certain qualifications for both offices including but not limited to membership in the church, regular tithing, attendance, support activities visitation and others as needed. A Clerk is needed to record minutes of meetings from both quarterly and annual business meetings. Send letters to churches to inform them about transfers of membership and other duties as needed.

Outside Maintenance

Coordinated by the trustees.

Sidewalks

use the blower to clean off the sidewalks after mowing and before services if needed.

Trimming

use the weed trimmer around trees signs and other spots that need a trim.

Snow removal

shovel off sidewalks, ramps, and steps before services. Please note there is always a role for any volunteer regardless of age or gender. Of course for the heavier work, men and older boys are needed the most.

Planning Committee

Meets quarterly to plan activities for the church. Please come with all your ideas as we encourage our church to fellowship with each other. Please note that if your group wants to schedule an activity it must not interfere with previously planned activities already scheduled.

Prayer Chain

Pray and pass on special requests whether it be for illnesses, or other problems, burdens or other crises that our members and their family or friends face. This will occasionally involve emergency calls during the night, though this does not happen very often. Since this is a “chain” you are not required to call everyone on the list, just call the next person on the list. If they are not there, leave a message on their machine and keep calling until you reach the next person and share the information with him/her.

Sound Board

Technical responsibility of the music ministry and sound quality during the services. Once trained and if your schedule allows, you may be asked to help out with special services throughout the year, like weddings or funerals.

Sunday School

Teachers must be willing to teach children, generally within a three year age range. Teachers are also asked to engage children during the week with encouragement in the form of cards and phone calls. Helpers are always needed to assist teachers or act as a substitute during vacations or illness.

Usher

To collect the tithes and offerings during the church service. We ask that our ushers wear coats and dress shirts with ties. Occasionally, we ask older boys to act as ushers, but they too must dress accordingly.

Vacation Bible School

This is a summer role for all who are needed. Coordinator is needed to choose the curriculum, recruit other volunteers for teaching, crafts, kitchen work, registration, etc. The coordinator will also request donations for craft work and snacks. The coordinator also encourages teachers to make follow up visits with visiting children or even help lead a child to Christ. VBS is always in need of volunteers. It’s a great way to work for our children during the summer break.

Van Ministry

Workers are asked to drive children and adults to and from church. This is one of the more demanding roles we have. It requires both a heart for children and dedication, plus a valid driver’s license, of course.

Visitation/Soul Winning

Church wide visitation is every other Thursday night. We want to encourage everyone to come out to visit others individuals or whole families. Ladies Visitation is on Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoons for women to visit other women and children.

Soul winning

Better in pairs, this is the key to a successful ministry. Your role may be as the conversation leader or partner in praying with and for the person you want to lead to Christ.

Wednesday Nights In Summer

We are looking for people to assist with a summer program for youngsters 3 years of age through the 6th grade. Bible lessons, games, crafts, and snacks are part of the weekly program.

Wheelchair Assistant

Check for and help people who may need assistance with the ramps and elevator.

Women’s Ministries

Women’s Bible Study meets September through April on Thursday mornings to discuss a Bible lesson assigned before the class. Preparation is the key to a meaningful discussion. Clerical help is needed to assist with flyers as needed, decorations for special occasions like the mother/daughter banquet, ladies Christmas party, etc. Mailings are sent from time to time and we need volunteers to help with those too. Volunteers are also needed to make phone calls. And like so many church activities we will need refreshments. Retreats are also planned occasionally and we will need help with those too.

Youth Activities

Chaperones are needed to keep an eye on things during youth activities. Drivers to shuttle youth to and from activities are also needed. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age. Refreshment volunteers to bring snacks and beverages are also needed.
